ast year, I learned about the grandparenting summit from Todd, but it was too late to introduce it to our community at Community Church. This year, however, we made it happen. We sponsored the event through our Encore program, excited about the potential it held for our church and the grandparents within it. It was an easy decision to make.
October is a bustling month for us, with the launch of various church programs and community events like trunk or treat. Despite the busy schedule, we managed to carve out time for the summit without any conflicts. The fact that it was on a Thursday and Friday worked well since many of our grandparents are retired and could attend during the day.
The content and speakers were unknown to us until the event, but the two days turned out to be incredibly impactful. The summit wasn't just about the role of grandparents but about the heritage and legacy we carry. It emphasized the importance of being a steadfast foundation in faith for our families, especially in today's world.
The summit made it clear to me that grandparenting is not about age or retirement; it's about intentionality in faith and being a beacon for future generations. This experience has been a call to action for me to be an intentional Christian grandparent, to light the way for those who follow.
This summit is just the beginning. I believe it will grow in the coming years, spreading not only within our church but throughout our community, fueled by the passion and word of mouth of this year's attendees.
