few weeks ago, on a warm September day, we gathered at Ramseyer Farm for our first-ever Marriage Matters event. Nearly 30 of us came together, enjoying hayrides, roasting hotdogs, and making memories. As we explored Ramseyer Farms, shooting potato guns and sliding down large sewer tiles, we also took the time to truly connect with one another.
This event was more than just fun; it was a vision of what our Marriage Matters ministry aims to achieve. Marriage is a vast topic, and we discussed three primary areas we hope this ministry will encompass: fellowship (sharing the joys and challenges of different stages of marriage.), deepening our spiritual bond (growing together in faith and helping each other become better versions of ourselves.), and mentorship (those further along in their marital journey guiding and supporting those just starting out)
Interestingly, we realized that many of us didn't know each other as well as we thought. Some of us, while on a hayride, waved enthusiastically at our church friends, only to receive polite, distant waves in return. Clearly, there's a need for us to connect more deeply.
So, who is Marriage Matters for? For those in the early stages of marriage, there’s Life 101. For the more experienced couples, there’s Life 301. In between there we are trying to identify a group. So whether you're looking for fellowship, deeper spiritual growth, or mentorship, Marriage Matters is where all of these can be developed, but also the same place where we can centralize and get to know each other and encourage one another on a larger scale
