his year, our Encore ministry's Christmas Luncheon at Guy's Party Center in December was a remarkable gathering. With about 100 attendees, the event was a wonderful blend of fellowship and excellent food.
The highlight of our celebration was the performance by Hal Wright and the Majestic Voice Choir. They delivered an array of beautiful Christmas carols and a few acapella songs, creating a memorable and joyful atmosphere. The setting at Guy's Party Center was stunningly decorated, enhancing the festive mood and providing a 'wow' moment for everyone as they entered.
A cherished tradition of our luncheon is the homemade cookies baked by some of our ladies. This year, we were delighted to extend our care to nearly 30 of our shut-ins. Members who attended the luncheon took these cookies and delivered them to our shut-ins, offering prayers and checking on any additional needs they might have. It was a touching way to reach out and connect with those who couldn't join us.
Another significant aspect of this event was its outreach opportunity. Many attendees invited friends, including those who do not regularly attend church. The welcoming environment and the shared experience at the luncheon had a positive impact, with some guests expressing interest in joining us for church services in the future.
Organizing such a large event comes with its challenges. For instance, accommodating the 50-voice choir required extra effort in setting up risers, which was skillfully managed with the help of volunteers. Additionally, ensuring the event was affordable for seniors on fixed incomes and providing a menu suitable for senior diets were important considerations.
After a hiatus due to renovations, this luncheon marked a joyful reunion. The excitement was palpable as people were happy to be together again, showing the strong community bond within our Encore family. As we look forward to our next Encore luncheon in the newly renovated gym in January, we hope to see even more of our church family there, including those who couldn't make it this year.
