had the privilege of leading Coventry Elementary School's choir in a special mini-concert at Community Church. What made this event truly special was not just the singing but the choice of songs - ones celebrating the birth of Jesus. It's a joy to share these moments with the children, especially since many of them don't have a religious upbringing.
I see this as more than just a concert. It's an opportunity to introduce these children to a church environment, a place of love and acceptance. Many of these kids haven't experienced church or prayer, so it's heartwarming to see them engage without fear or hesitation.
In terms of outreach, even our youngest members are making a difference. When they share their experiences at church with their peers, they're unknowingly spreading the good news. We've seen connections grow between different church programs, like the Good News Club, and our choir events.
We understand that not all parents are comfortable staying in a church service for the performances. So if parents do decide to stay, we've created welcoming spaces for them outside of our Worship Center, like offering donuts in a lounge area, that may serve as stepping stone. It's not about tricking them to come and forcing them to stay, it's about building relationships and letting the Holy Spirit work in their hearts in time.
The success of our choir performance is a testament to the hard work and dedication of many, especially Todd Hixenbaugh, who has been instrumental in making the church a welcoming space for parents and students alike. We're creating a community where our church is seen as a home, where families participate in various activities, feeling welcome and included.
I am blessed, and I am so grateful. This was a long morning. I hope the kids realize how much they touched, not just their parents' hearts, but there are people in our congregation who are hurting. I really feel God created music as a therapy to bless the soul to praise Him, and we did that today.
