Ready, Aim, Fellowship

A Day of Connection and Fun

E

very year, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, our men's ministry hosts "Ready Aim Fellowship," a men’s event that has quickly become one of my favorite traditions. It’s simple: the church rents range time at the local Armory and invites men to bring their own guns and ammo for a morning of target practice, camaraderie, and, ultimately, fellowship.

I look forward to this event because it’s a rare opportunity to hang out, let off some steam, and reconnect with folks I don’t see often. It’s also an easy invite for my friends—two hours, casual setting, and plenty of fun. The atmosphere is laid-back, and it’s great to see guys of all ages show up—from young folks to retirees—all gathered for the same reason.

Some of my favorite memories involve friendly target-practice competitions with my buddies and checking out the unique variety of firearms others bring. I’ve been amazed by people’s generosity—sharing their gear and even letting others take a shot or two with their equipment.

It’s easy to overlook the deeper purpose of an event like this since there’s no formal devotion or study time. But I’ve come to realize there’s something deeply spiritual about simply being together—spending time with others, meeting people outside my usual circle, and interacting in a way that reflects God’s love. These connections, rooted in our shared faith in Jesus, remind me of the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone.

"Ready Aim Fellowship" isn’t just about shooting targets—it’s about building relationships, having fun, and experiencing the joy of fellowship.
