or a long time many of us at Community Church have been praying and asking God how we can be involved in the schools here in Coventry. Let’s see what God has done.
A teacher reached out to me asking if I would help her lead a bible study at the high school. We met for lunch a few times last summer to hash out a plan. Now on Thursdays we meet in the coolest room of the school. It is like a big fishbowl, meaning that it is a totally glass room where we are very visible by other staff and students. With students being able to see who is in the Bible Study, other students are approaching them, asking questions. Youth from our church are in the study and it is a great witnessing opportunity for them, telling others about their experiences with Jesus and inviting them to the study. I take donuts and we answer the students' questions from 10:46 to 11:13. I have been able to share the four cornerstones of the Gospel: Creation, Sin, Redemption, Kingdom. Students from the high school are starting to attend our church.
One of our students who goes to Coventry HS and to the Bible Study, Grayson, had a young man tell her that he had been searching for some answers. He felt like he needed Jesus in this life. Grayson took that chance to witness to him and invite him to the study on Thursdays. On his first visit, he asked for a Bible and of course I gave him one, telling him that reading the book of John was a great place to start. He came to church on a Sunday morning and met other friends from school and they offered to pick him up and bring him to our Sunday night gatherings. It wasn’t long before he said he wanted to invite Christ into his life. Amen and Hallaluhiah
In closing I want to share with you the other opportunities that are God is providing. I am part of the coaching staff at the middle and high schools. Community Church is being present there. I am the face that they see but I’m there because many of you have prayed me there. Others are paying for donuts and helping to buy Bibles, which I could not do alone. Thank you for your willingness to be involved with me. Don’t stop praying or donating. God is working.
